MERT ALAS AND MARCUS PIGGOTT

THERE’S ONLY ONE

You can call her the Queen of Pop or you can call her the Material Girl, but there’s no moniker quite so evocative as simply: Madonna. The seven-time Grammy Award winner returns to the stage in an epic world tour billed as “a journey from darkness to light.” And whether you’re in it for Madonna’s trademark blend of controversial themes and killer dance moves, or simply some delicious pop hooks, you won’t be disappointed.

TOP 10 MDNA FACTS

1. A seasoned pro: this is Madonna’s ninth concert tour, in support of her 12th studio album MDNA.

2. Famous firsts: the MDNA tour marked Madonna’s first performances in the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Scotland and Colombia.

3. Deep, but with plenty of dancing, too: Madonna divides the MDNA show into sections titled Transgression, Prophecy, Masculine/Feminine and Redemption.

4. She’s still got it (duh): Billboard ranked this as the highest-grossing tour of 2012, with over $305 million grossed from 88 sold-out shows.

5. Double whammy: the MDNA tour’s success makes it the second highest grossing tour of all time by a female artist. Number one? Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour.

6. Fashion forward: Madonna’s long-time designer Jean Paul Gaultier created the costumes for this tour.

7. Can you blame them? Fans lined up 24 hours in advance to score tickets for Madonna’s first-ever show in Abu Dhabi.

8. And go! 60,000 tickets for Madonna’s performance at Yankee Stadium sold out in just 20 minutes, prompting concert promoters to add a second NYC date.

9. Not to be outdone by the Big Apple, Madonna’s Kansas City fans snapped up tickets so fast the show sold out in a mere 12 minutes.

10. For those about to rock: tickets for the show at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa sold out in 21 minutes to become the fastest-selling concert in the venue’s history, knocking off previous record holders AC/DC.

DARE

Foreword by Madonna
There is something primal and mystical about the sense of smell. It connects us to memory, nostalgia and the ability to dream and fantasize. I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me, but that other people could relate to as well. Something classical and timeless and yet modern. My oldest memory of my mother is her perfume. I carry it with me everywhere. She always smelled like Gardenias and Tuberose. An intoxicating mixture. Feminine and mysterious. I wanted to recreate this scent but with something fresh and new about it as well. Something honest and yet daring. Hence the name Truth or Dare. We can be tricked by what we see and what we hear but not by what we smell.

The Fragrance
Darkness and light, innocence and deceit. Truth or Dare by Madonna represents the dual forces that coexist in all of us. Daring to embrace the duality of our true nature. Truth or Dare by Madonna is a contemporary and sexy reinvention of a classic, a robust signature white floral. The unique blend of narcotic florals, balanced with addictive woods and vanilla, create a scent that is timeless yet modern, simultaneously dark and light. The addition of gourmand notes such as Vanilla and Caramelized Amber makes the fragrance stand out from traditional floral fragrances and gives it a contemporary edge.

The Bottle and Packaging
The bottle and carton, designed by Fabien Baron in collaboration with Madonna, feature a palette of rich gold and white, marrying elegance and sophistication with a touch of edginess. The bottle is luxurious and classic. The dichotomy of Truth or Dare by Madonna is apparent in the packaging, balancing purity and provocation. The white of the bottle and logo represent truth and spirituality. The unexpected beading detail gives the bottle a raw edginess. The carton is a statement in modern luxury, set in chic gold with a delicate white border, emblazoned with the bold Truth or Dare logo.

Available exclusively at Macys in April 2012 and at all specialty stores starting in January 2013.

Truth: Duality. Sin is my twin. Contradictions push and pull.

Dare: To expose what lies beneath. Infinite possibility.
In this tension, we find our true selves.

Truth or Dare by Madonna

IT’S SO EROTIC

It’s so hypnotic
The way he pulls on me
It’s like the force of gravity
Right up under my feet
It’s so erotic
This feeling can’t be beat
It’s coursing through my whole body
Feel the heat

Beauty Bites

YOU SAY "TOMATO," I SAY "TOMAHTO"!

They're packed with lycopene, which protects skin from the oxidation that results from sun damage and leads to wrinkles. Adding a little olive oil helps you absorb lycopene even better. Numerous studies have shown that eating foods high in lycopene is beneficial in warding off heart disease and several types of cancer such as lung, prostate, cervical, digestive tract and breast. Good sources of lycopene are pink grapefruit, guava, watermelon, and rosehips, but the most common and perhaps most powerful is the tomato.

ALMONDS, IT'S IN THE CRUNCH!

They're brimming with vitamin E, which neutralizes free radicals in your muscles and nervous system and enhances speed, coordination and balance. They also have good amounts of magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron, fibre and are a good source of healthy monounsaturated fat. They contain more calcium than any other nut which makes them great for vegetarians who do not eat any dairy products.

FEELING A LITTLE BLUE?

Blueberries have highest antioxidant capacity of all fresh fruit: being very rich in anti oxidants like vitamin C, B complex, vitamin E, vitamin A, copper, selenium, zinc and iron. They neutralize free radicals which can affect disease and aging in the body. Been proved to preserve vision: Blueberry extract, high in compounds called anthocyanosides, has been found in clinical studies to slow down visual loss. They keep you fresh, active, fit, sharp, close to nature and in a good mood, as they are very good anti depressants.

BEAUTY BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA

Green tea contains antioxidants that combat free radicals. Free radicals are byproducts of the human body and cause damage to cells and tissues. The antioxidants neutralize free radicals so they cannot cause any harm. Free radicals are one of the causes of many illnesses and they are one of the reasons for our aging. Green tea drinkers appear to have lower risk for a wide range of diseases, from simple bacterial or viral infections to chronic degenerative conditions including cardiovascular disease, cancer, stroke, periodontal disease, and osteoporosis.
