TOO HOT INSIDE

“Red Blooded Woman” was released in the United Kingdom on March 1, 2004. The song became Minogue’s twenty-third top five single when it debuted at number five on the singles chart, beaten to number one by Britney Spears, who debuted at the top spot with “Toxic”. The hit song spent a total of nine weeks in the top seventy-five in the UK. Outside of the United Kingdom, the song was also successful.

Due to favorable reception of Minogue’s previous releases, “Red Blooded Woman” was released in the United States. Minogue had previously found success in the dance clubs with 2001’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and 2003’s “Slow”. “Red Blooded Woman” became her sixth consecutive release to reach the top forty on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, where it peaked at number twenty-four. It also performed well on the Hot Dance Airplay chart, where it reached the top spot. The song however was not a success of the Billboard Hot 100, failing to make an impact outside of the dance market. However, several key Top 40 stations, including KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, embraced the track and gave it heavy airplay thanks to the song’s more “urban” sound.

Count backwards, 5 4 3 2 1
Before you get too heated and turned on
You should have learned your lessons all them times before
You’ve been bruised, you’ve been broken
Then there’s my mind saying think before you go
Through that door it could lead you nowhere

SO ELECTRIC

“Slow” is an electropop song written by Kylie Minogue, from Minogue’s ninth studio album, Body Language (2003). The song was released as the album’s lead single in late 2003 and reached number one in Australia, Denmark, Romania and the United Kingdom, where it became Minogue’s seventh number-one single. In the United States, “Slow” was released to success on the Billboard dance charts, reaching the top position on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. Additionally, the song earned Minogue her third consecutive Grammy Award nomination in the Best Dance Recording category, but lost out to “Toxic” by Britney Spears.

The single’s music video, directed by Baillie Walsh, was shot over a three-day period in the Spanish city of Barcelona, at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc. The first two days of shooting were postponed due to heavy rain, but the video was completed by the end of the third day. The video opens with a man diving into a swimming pool from a diving board from where the skyscrapers of Barcelona can be clearly seen. After the man gets out the pool, the rest of the video focuses on Minogue, who is amongst a crowded poolside of swimwear-clad men and women. There are various side-views and bird’s-eye views of Minogue as she sings the song.

Beauty Bites

YOU SAY "TOMATO," I SAY "TOMAHTO"!

They're packed with lycopene, which protects skin from the oxidation that results from sun damage and leads to wrinkles. Adding a little olive oil helps you absorb lycopene even better. Numerous studies have shown that eating foods high in lycopene is beneficial in warding off heart disease and several types of cancer such as lung, prostate, cervical, digestive tract and breast. Good sources of lycopene are pink grapefruit, guava, watermelon, and rosehips, but the most common and perhaps most powerful is the tomato.

ALMONDS, IT'S IN THE CRUNCH!

They're brimming with vitamin E, which neutralizes free radicals in your muscles and nervous system and enhances speed, coordination and balance. They also have good amounts of magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron, fibre and are a good source of healthy monounsaturated fat. They contain more calcium than any other nut which makes them great for vegetarians who do not eat any dairy products.

FEELING A LITTLE BLUE?

Blueberries have highest antioxidant capacity of all fresh fruit: being very rich in anti oxidants like vitamin C, B complex, vitamin E, vitamin A, copper, selenium, zinc and iron. They neutralize free radicals which can affect disease and aging in the body. Been proved to preserve vision: Blueberry extract, high in compounds called anthocyanosides, has been found in clinical studies to slow down visual loss. They keep you fresh, active, fit, sharp, close to nature and in a good mood, as they are very good anti depressants.

BEAUTY BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA

Green tea contains antioxidants that combat free radicals. Free radicals are byproducts of the human body and cause damage to cells and tissues. The antioxidants neutralize free radicals so they cannot cause any harm. Free radicals are one of the causes of many illnesses and they are one of the reasons for our aging. Green tea drinkers appear to have lower risk for a wide range of diseases, from simple bacterial or viral infections to chronic degenerative conditions including cardiovascular disease, cancer, stroke, periodontal disease, and osteoporosis.
